Lumbee Tribe and UNC-Pembroke Working Together to Build Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center Track

The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) came together on Friday to sign an agreement that will give UNCP’s Cross Country team access to the future track site that will be located at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center.

Lumbee Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin Jr. along with UNC-Pembroke’s Alumnus and General Counsel Joshua Malcolm signed the agreement at the Lumbee Tribal Office.

“I look forward to seeing UNCP’s Cross Country team conducting their practice at the Cultural Center,” Godwin stated. “I want people to know that the revitalization of the Cultural Center is a community effort and we can build upon this process by establishing a connection for our youth through student athletic activities.”

The Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center Track will also be available to the community for exercise and walking purposes.
