In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Lumbee Tribal Staff dressed in Pink to support those who are fighting, lift up the survivors as well as remember all who are impacted by breast cancer. Our First Lady Mrs. Sheila Godwin is a survivor. She recently decided to make a Lumbee Doll that had cancer. This semester, Dewhitt Locklear is one of 79 Lumbee college students to receive Lumbee Tribe of N.C. housing vouchers for colleges throughout North Carolina. This year, the Lumbee Tribe has utilized funding through the American Rescue Plan to extend the program to more students. Each Lumbee student receives $1500 a semester. They are eligible for upto 8 semesters. Graduate students are eligible for the funding as well. The students must be enrolled as a full-time student.
