Whitney Recountre and J.D. Moore will Emcee the Spring POWWOW

Whitney Recountre II will co-emcee the Lumbee Powwow with J.D. Moore. Rencountre II is Hunkpati Dakota from the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe. He is the Associate Director of The Indian University of North America. He is the creator of the popular social media platform Social Distance Powwow. Social Distance Powwow has 300,000 members in over 100 countries around the world. Rencountre II has served as Emcee for the celebrations across the globe including; Black Hills Powwow, United Tribes International Powwow, Shakopee Powwow, Prairie Island Powwow and Lower Brule Powwow.

J.D. Moore is a member of the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe. Moore is employed by Duke Energy as the manager of Nuclear Site Services at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Station. He has been an avid follower and instructor of his Native American heritage from an early age as young men’s fancy dancer, singer with various Native American drums and now a Cultural Event and Powwow Emcee. Moore is very engaged with local and state Tribal events and currently is the Waccamaw Siouan representative for the Governors American Indian Cultural Committee for the state of NC.
