Lumbee Cords of Honor Ceremony Preview 2023

On Thursday, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina held the 2023 Lumbee Cords of Honor Ceremony. Congratulations to our Lumbee Graduates. More than 200 High School and College Students received a Tribal cord. The event was a celebration of this important milestone in the life of these students. Education is a core value of the Lumbee People. The students traveled from college and high school campuses from across the southeast and one Lumbee student traveled from as far as Pennsylvania. These cords comprise the colors of the Lumbee Tribal Seal and the Medicine Wheel. Hundreds of family members also attended the event. Sheila Cummings, President & CEO at Cummings Aerospace, was the Keynote Speaker for the ceremony who gave the students an amazing word of encouragement for the journey ahead.

We will post the full video in the coming days and also all of the graduate photos with Chairman Lowery and Speaker Sharon Hunt. Thank you to Sheila Cummings, Dr. Rev. Kenneth Locklear, the parents, grandparents, the Lumbee Tribal Council, our Marshalls, the Lumbee Staff and everyone in attendance who made this day extra special for our graduates. Here is a short video, but the full video will be posted in a few days.
