14th Annual Dance of the Spring Moon Lumbee Powwow
Join us for the 14th Annual Dance of the Spring Moon Lumbee Powwow! May 3-5, 2019 at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center, 638 Terry Sanford Drive, Maxton, NC 28364. This event will feature a Cultural Demonstrations, Stickball Games, Powwow Dancing, food vendors and a variety of fine arts and jewelry from individual artists. Drum contest winners will be awarded prize money ranging from $2000 to $8000 Dance contestants will compete for prize money: ranging from $200 to $1000 for adults; $75 to $500 for teens; and $50 to $200 for the Boys and Girls division. The event will be Emceed by Juaquin Hamilton and JD Moore; Arena Director is Jamie Locklear; Head Female Dancer is Elena Jacobs-Polanco; Head Male Dancer is Caleb Burnett; Head Drum Judge is Chris Conncer; and Head Dance Judge is Schirra Gray; Host Drum Group is WarPaint. Grand entries will be held Friday 7 pm, Saturday 12 pm and 7 pm, and Sunday 1 pm. Admission fees are $8 for adults; $6 for youth (6-12); $5 for Seniors (55+); $5 for Military with ID; Children under 5 are free; Sunday only is $5; and a Weekend pass is $18.
