2016 Back to School Celebration

Lumbee Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin Jr. attended the 2016 Back to School Celebration that was hosted by the Public Schools of Robeson County on Thursday, August 4. Over 20,000 students and parents were serviced during the celebration.

Pictured above, Superintendent Tommy Lowry presented Lumbee Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin Jr. with a student backpack. A notebook, loose leaf paper, pencils, pencil sharpener, and other school supplies were enclosed. Each student received this bag from their designated school booth. Parent bags were also distributed.

“I am proud to be in attendance during this celebration,” Godwin stated. “To know that so many kids are coming to receive the needed tools for their education, free of charge, is something that is spectacular and hopefully we, as a community, can help build upon this platform that has been constructed by the Public Schools of Robeson County.”
