Rehab Program: Interior Handicap-Accessibility

The new walk-in shower featured in these photos was recently installed in the home of a tribal elder, providing much needed handicap accessibility. The new shower made it possible for the tribal member to fully bathe for the first time since coming home from a rehabilitation facility in May. Due to the elder’s injuries, it had been impossible to safely enter and exit the old tub, but the new shower provides easy access, and features a shower seat and handheld shower for added convenience.

The bathroom rehabilitation also included a new toilet and light over the vanity, as well as new paint for the walls. The bathroom entryway and the entrance to the tribal elder’s bedroom were also widened to allow wheelchair access.
