Lumbee Tribe Recognizes Researcher for Maxton Pond Research
Thank you to Rebecca Asser for her extensive work and research on Maxton Pond. The Lumbee Tribal Council and Tribal Chairman John Lowery honored her efforts with a beaded Hawk Feather at this week’s Tribal Council Business Meeting.
Rebecca is a North Carolina State University Graduate Student. Her poster presentation of her environmental and research work on Maxton Pond won her 2nd place in the NCSU Graduate Student Research Symposium. She has worked diligently to be culturally sensitive to the place the Maxton Pond holds in the hearts of the Lumbee People.
