The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is proud to announce that we have been awarded $4,607,996 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the FY 2025 Indian Housing Block Grant Competitive Program.

This investment will support Senior Village at Rennert Phase II, bringing 18 new affordable rental homes for Lumbee elders to the Rennert community.

The project will include nine duplex buildings with 18 single story, accessible rental units, designed to provide safe, energy efficient housing where our elders can live comfortably and independently in their community, close to family, community, and services.

Each approximately 1,200 square foot home will feature two bedrooms, an accessible bathroom, and an open layout designed with the needs of our elders in mind. The development will also include a covered community gathering space, sidewalks, parking, green space, lighting, and safety improvements.

The Lumbee Tribe remains committed to expanding safe, affordable housing opportunities and strengthening the communities where our people call home.
