Thank you to CORE for preparing our Lumbee Tribal Security team to have frontline skills with substance abuse in our community. During their training today at Robeson Community College, our officers learned first hand how to face issues such as recognizing overdose and substance impairment, de-escalation techniques, safe response strategies, Naloxone awareness, and overdose response, understanding addiction, and reducing stigma, as well as how to connect individuals to resources and support.

The class provides practical real world skills for law-enforcement, and first responders who encounter individuals under the influence of substances or experiencing overdose. The focus is so important because it is placed on safe response, de-escalation, and life-saving intervention.
