2 more days. 48 more hours to go until we officially celebrate the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina receiving full Federal Recognition on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9 am - 9 pm on the campus of UNC Pembroke!
This celebration is for everyone, especially the kids! There will be a face painter live on-site. There will be kids' crafts and activities, including bouncy houses, pottery, 7-direction bracelets, dreamcatchers, and rainstick building. Bring the whole family out for a full day of fun, fellowship, entertainment, dancing, music, vendors, and activities that the children will enjoy all throughout the day!
From the sounds of the drums at the powwow to the exciting performances, delicious treats, and a spectacular drone show to end the night, there will be something for all ages to experience and remember. Let your children be part of this historic celebration as we honor our people, our culture, and our future as the 575th Federally Recognized Tribe in the nation.
