You are invited to the Paw Paw Foraging in the Bottomlands event on Saturday, September 12, 9:45 AM–1:00 PM at Bladen Lake State Forest. Join us for a morning in the bottomland forests of Bladen Lakes State Forest. Search for ripe paw paws, learn about native food foraging, and see how forest management supports wildlife and healthy forests.
What to Expect
The field tour will include a nature hike foraging for ripe paw paws and discussion on how bottomland forest management.
The field portion includes a 10-min walk through uneven, wooded
terrain. Please wear closed-toe shoes and come prepared for the outdoors(water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen). A box lunch will be provided.
Meeting Location
Participants have two options for meeting the group.
Those who would like to carpool in the van from Pembroke should meet at 6984 NC Hwy 711 West Pembroke, NC at 8:15 am for an 8:30 am departure.Those who prefer to drive separately should meet the group at Singletary Lake State Park by 9:40 am before traveling together to the site.
