The Lumbee Tribe "Dance of the Harvest Moon" Powwow Begins This Weekend!

The Lumbee Tribe of the N.C. “Dance of the Harvest Moon” Powwow is just three days away. Join us this weekend, Friday, September 29th, Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center for some great family fun. The weekend of celebrations kicks off with a Stick Ball Social at 6 pm on Thursday evening, September 28, 2023 at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center. The social is open to the public and will continue until after dark. The “Dance of the Harvest Moon” Powwow officially begins on Friday, September 29, 2023 with Grand Entry at 7 pm. On Saturday, the Grand Entry is at noon and 7 pm. The Grand Entry on Sunday begins at 1 pm.

The Lumbee Powwow has something for everyone. Guest will enjoy Powwow dancing, dance contest for men and women and a drum contest. There will also be cultural demonstrations throughout the weekend. The event will also include a (MMIW) “Women’s Jingle Red Dress Special” to remember the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women.
