Pembroke, NC (September 14, 2026) – The Lumbee Tribal Council is providing a second follow-up notice regarding the process by which enrolled tribal citizens may submit written comments, in addition to participating in the upcoming Discretionary Public Hearings (“Public Hearings”). The hearings are being held to provide enrolled tribal citizens with a meaningful opportunity to comment on a draft gaming ordinance.
On September 4, 2026, and September 10, 2026, notices were issued setting forth the public hearing dates, times, and locations. As described in those notices, the draft gaming ordinance and hearing/comment protocol were posted on September 8, 2026, on the Lumbee Member Portal under the tab “GAMING ORDINANCE.”
Today, the Tribal Council confirms that the option for Tribal citizens to submit written comments via the Lumbee Member Portal is active and will remain available through Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. ET. Written comments of up to 4,000 characters may be submitted on the Lumbee Member Portal under the tab “GAMING ORDINANCE,” providing an additional avenue for citizens to share meaningful feedback with the Tribal Council.
