Pembroke, NC (September 4, 2026) – The Lumbee Tribal Council hereby provides notice of the dates, times, and locations for Discretionary Public Hearings (“Public Hearings”) to be convened throughout the Tribal Territory. Enrolled tribal citizens shall have the opportunity to provide comments concerning a draft gaming ordinance, which has been the subject of three public meetings conducted over the past month during sessions of the Tribal Council’s Constitution & Ordinance Committee.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, tribal citizens may review the draft gaming ordinance, thePublic Hearing protocol, and related information through the Lumbee Member Portal.
During the Public Hearings, enrolled tribal citizens may attend and provide comments “on the record” regarding the draft gaming ordinance. In order to attend and participate, tribal citizens must consent to being recorded so that their comments may be entered into the public record. The Tribal Council will subsequently provide a process by which written comments may be submitted for inclusion in the public record. Citizens attending or participating shall not broadcast or record the Public Hearings in any manner. The Public Hearings are scheduled as follows:

Attendance and participation shall be limited to actively enrolled citizens of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. Tribal citizens may attend any or all Public Hearing sessions; however, to ensure that all interested citizens are afforded an opportunity to speak, each citizen may provide public comments during only one Public Hearing session.
Speaker Alex Baker shall serve as the Presiding Officer for the proceedings.
