Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina staff met with the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) Indian Child Welfare (ICWA) as well as the Department of Transportation (NC DOT) today strengthen our collaboration and discuss ways to better serve Lumbee families involved in the foster care system as well as to discuss current and future transportation opportunities for the Tribe.
"It is good to have our state partners here as we continue discussions about the next steps following federal recognition," said Tribal Chairman John Lowery. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the Lumbee Tribe’s relationship with the state and working together in an effective and efficient manner that ultimately benefits tribal citizens.
