Chairman Lowery met with NC Gov. Roy Cooper in a government to government discussion

Today, Lumbee Tribal Chairman John Lowery met with North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper in a government to government discussion on issues that impact the Lumbee People.

Chairman Lowery and Governor Cooper discussed economic development within tribal communities, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) and the impact that full federal recognition of the Lumbee Tribe will have on the state. Chairman Lowery said, “I am thankful for this time with Governor Cooper. The Governor and I were able to spend this time not only discussing issues that impact the Lumbee, but all tribes across the state.”

Following the meeting at the Governor’s Mansion, Chairman Lowery gifted Governor Cooper with a piece of pottery by Lumbee Artist Karl Anthony Hunt.
