The 27th Annual Pembroke Day proved to be a huge success for UNC-Pembroke’s campus on Wednesday. The UNC-Pembroke Quad was full of students, vendors, and community members during the celebration.

Lumbee Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin Jr. was a guest speaker for the event, along with Channing Jones, Vice President of Workforce Development at Robeson Community College, and Faline Dial, President of Pembroke’s Chamber of Commerce.

Chairman Harvey Godwin Jr. expressed the importance of having and maintaining partnerships with communal entities and working together to provide a stronger unification for community members.

Recently, the Lumbee Tribe has partnered with UNC-Pembroke’s Cross Country team to build a track at Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center. We have also partnered with Robeson Community College, Public Schools of Robeson County, and UNC-Pembroke to initiate a higher learning initiative through a grant titled Project ACCESS.
