    In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Lumbee Tribe staff is participating in “Pink Spirit Week.” Today our staff wore pink socks in honor of those who have walked this journey. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time annually devoted to educating everyone about breast cancer — including metastatic breast cancer (MBC) — and the importance of early detection and access to timely, high-quality care.

    Thank you to the St. Pauls High School AISA and AISES clubs' for inviting our Lumbee Tribal Chairman, staff, the Lumbee Ambassadors and community to the MMIW and Domestic Abuse Awareness Rally at St. Pauls High. It was a great opportunity for the community to gain more awareness about the ongoing issue of domestic violence and Murdered Missing and Indigenous Women in our area.

    Thank you to everyone who attended the District 9 & 10 Community Meeting on Monday in Lumberton, NC. The event, which was hosted by Councilmen Dewey McNeill (District 9) and Bobby Emanuel (District 10) offered some very resourceful information about tribal services as well as great community information.

It is an ever-present reminder of how our ancestors and relatives shape the past, present and the future. The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. hopes you will join us as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day. It is a time to celebrate and honor the gift of Native People to this land and our blessed nation.

    Thank you to Lowe’s for giving to make play more accessible for children visiting the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina Cultural Center. Today is “Red Vest day” for the Lowe’s Company. Lowe’s employees spent the morning at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center working on the children’s playground. This project is part of a Lowe’s Hometown grant of $160,000 to resurface the playground areas and provide concrete sidewalks for handicapped accessibility for the children to play here. Lowe’s Volunteers from the Lumberton and Whiteville stores spent the morning removing the mulch material from around the playground to make way for a more accessible material which will make the playground more accessible. This is a 6 month project. William Locklear is working with Lowe’s as the Project manager for the project.

    In addition to the time honored tradition of the annual fish fry on Saturday, tomorrow also come and enjoy some wonderful gospel Singing as various groups and guest from across the area come to bless us in song.

    The Lumbee Tribe Rehabilitation Housing Program is now accepting new contractor applications for the following trades: General, Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC. The Rehabilitation Program accepts applications for new contractors twice a year ONLY. Any American Indian contractor who would like to place their name/business on the Qualified Bidders List for the Lumbee Tribe Rehabilitation Housing Program must submit an application by mail or by the drop off box at the Tribal Housing Complex located at 6984 NC 711 in Pembroke, NC 28372. Address submissions to the attention of Jessica Jones. Applications must be received by 3 PM on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.     Do you need heating assistance? The Lumbee Tribe of NC’s Energy Department will begin accepting applications for the Heating Assistance Program on October 16, 2023 through November 9, 2023. The Heating Assistance Program will provide heating assistance to members throughout tribal territory Assistance dates will be broken into three categories, in which applicants can apply. They are as follows October 16 - 20, 2023: 65 years and older October 23 - October 27, 2023: Disabled Citizens & Veterans October 30 - November 9, 2023: All other Households Applications will be accepted at the Lumbee Tribe Housing Complex (6984 NC 711 Pembroke, NC 28372).

  • Lumbee Tribal Enrollment Office will close October 13, 2023 for November Election

    The Lumbee Tribal Elections are just around the corner. That also means, the Lumbee Tribal Enrollment Office will close October 13, 2023. Per CLLO 2010-0121-01 (As Amended), the tribal rolls shall close 30 days prior to Tribal elections and will open back up 30 days after the Election is certified by the Lumbee Tribe Election Board. In accordance with Tribal Law, The Tribal Enrollment and Records Department will close for updates and new enrollments on October 13, 2023. TODAY, October 2, 2023, is the last day that the Enrollment office will be open until 8 pm. If your enrollment card is expired or close to expiring, don't wait till the last minute to update. Without an updated enrollment, you are unable to vote in the Lumbee Elections. An expired enrollment card may also delay services if you need help. Our Enrollment staff is here to assist with enrollments from 8 am till 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The Lumbee Culture Class, which is for new members applying for a new enrollment, is offered every day at 10 am and 1:30 pm by registration.   • The Lumbee Tribe "Dance of the Harvest Moon" Powwow Begins This Weekend!

    The Lumbee Tribe of the N.C. “Dance of the Harvest Moon” Powwow is just three days away. Join us this weekend, Friday, September 29th, Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center for some great family fun. The weekend of celebrations kicks off with a Stick Ball Social at 6 pm on Thursday evening, September 28, 2023 at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center. The social is open to the public and will continue until after dark. The “Dance of the Harvest Moon” Powwow officially begins on Friday, September 29, 2023 with Grand Entry at 7 pm. On Saturday, the Grand Entry is at noon and 7 pm. The Grand Entry on Sunday begins at 1 pm. The Lumbee Powwow has something for everyone. Guest will enjoy Powwow dancing, dance contest for men and women and a drum contest. There will also be cultural demonstrations throughout the weekend. The event will also include a (MMIW) “Women’s Jingle Red Dress Special” to remember the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women. Tickets range from $5 - $20.
