- Lowe's Partners with Boys & Girls Clubs
(Staff Report by Telisha Oxendine 8.15.2017) Today I took my kids from the Four Winds Boys & Girls Club to do a meet and greet with the workers at Lowe's Home Improvement in Lumberton, N.C. During Back 2 School season, Lowe’s will expand its partnership by kicking off the Lowe’s and BGCA-Building Great Futures in-store cause campaign. From August 8 to September 5, 2017, Lowe’s stores will support Boys & Girls Clubs by asking their customers to donate to Boys & Girls Clubs during the checkout process at the register. Fifty percent (50%) of all funds raised by stores that align with our BGC organization will be distributed back to our Club. If pass-thru after the split is less than $100 per Club, funds will be used to support a national BGCA initiative. We want to thank Lowe's Home Improvement for partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

In Pembroke, the Lumbee Tribe’s Boys & Girls Club serves over 150 members in grades 1-12 and the Southern Spirit Club serves over 70 members in grades 1-12. “The beginning of school is the start of a new year for our Clubs, so thanks to this partnership we are able to present a refreshed inviting atmosphere for our kids this year,” said Dr. Rose Marie Lowry-Townsend, Youth Services Manager for the Lumbee Tribe. “We are grateful for our local True Value’s support as we help area kids build great futures and start the school year off right.” The Clubs will use the donation to paint the gym, improve the welcome area and learning spaces in the clubs. ‘Painting a Brighter Future’ is the signature program of the True Value Foundation, uniting True Value retailers with Boys & Girls Clubs across the country.
