  • Dr. Dalton Brooks III Updating his Tribal Enrollment Before Enrollment Rolls Close

    The Lumbee Tribal Enrollment Rolls close today to prepare for the Tribal Election. Along with the hundreds of people updating and enrolling at the Lumbee Tribal Housing Complex today, was a young man with a very familiar name. He is Dr. Dalton Brooks III. While visiting with the applicants and members, Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin, Jr. took a few minutes to talk with him about his grandfather and namesake. His grandfather, Dr. Dalton, was the chairman of the LSDC Lumbee Self Determination Committee, which was the foundational committee for the Lumbee Constitution and the present-day Lumbee Government. A lifelong educator, Dr. Dalton Sr. was very instrumental in Lumbee Tribal Government as well as in education and ministry. His grandson Dalton is following in his father Peter’s footsteps. He is also a dentist.

  • Lumbee Tribal Enrollment Brings Record Number of Applicants

    The Tribal Enrollment rolls will close on Friday for the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. Over the past few weeks, thousands of applicants have visited the Lumbee Tribal Housing Complex to apply for enrollment or update their enrollment. With an average of 150 people per day, the wait times over the past several weeks have been much longer than normal. Even so, many of these Lumbee Tribal Members beamed with pride to receive their enrollment.

  • Lumbee Tribe of NC 2021 Progress of Housing Developments

    Development is Underway Across the Lumbee Tribal Nation. The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. has many single-family construction projects underway throughout our service areas of Robeson, Scotland, Hoke and Cumberland Counties. We are proud to announce several housing developments as well. The first one is the District 1 Elders' Village, designed to create long awaited safe and healthy living in the Rowland community. Along with housing developments, the Lumbee Tribe also has the Dreamcatcher projects’ in the Raynham, Community, Pembroke Community and Union Chapel Community. The Lumbee Tribe is also excited to announce its Veterans Village, located in Raynham, NC, which will afford safe and sanitary housing for Lumbee Tribal Member Veterans. We also extended the Youth Service Program in the Saddletree Community with a space to promote healthy living. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to look at other projects that will change the face of our Tribal Community, while creating affordable housing and growth opportunities for our Lumbee Tribal Members.

  • Developmental Phase has Started for Dreamcatcher Arrowpoint

    Developmental Phase had started for Dreamcatcher Arrowpoint in the town of Pembroke NC. The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. has many single family construction projects underway throughout our service areas of Robeson, Scotland, Hoke and Cumberland Counties. We are proud to announce several housing developments as well. The next one we are previewing to the tribal community is Dreamcatcher Arrowpoint. This development is a part of the Dreamcatcher Series. It is designed to offer affordable rental housing for Tribal Members in the Pembroke community. Over the next few weeks, we will look at the other 2 projects that will change the face of our Tribal Community while creating affordable Housing and growth opportunities for our Lumbee Tribal Members.

  • COVID-19 Vaccinations

    FREE Drive-Thru COVID-19 Vaccinations are available for everyone every Tuesday at the Lumbee Tribal Housing Complex on Highway 711 in Pembroke. Vaccinations are available from 3 pm till 6 pm through November. All 3 COVID-19 Vaccinations are available: Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson and Johnson. The community partners include CORE, UNCP McKenzie-Elliot School of Nursing, UNC Health Southeastern, Old North State Medical Society, Robeson County Health Department and the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. Participants will also receive Free mask and hand sanitizer. The community partners are also offering FREE health screenings. Please share with your community.

  • Funding For Casts from The Lost Colony for "Strike at the Wind!"

    Today, Lumbee Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin, Jr. presented “Strike at the Wind!” Director Jonathan Drahos with a check for $3000 from The Lost Colony for "Strike at the Wind!" Godwin presented the check at the new audio/Visual Room overlooking the Adolph Dial Amphitheater, which is now under renovation. There is a currently an ongoing collaboration between the 2 outdoor dramas. Drahos said the funding will be utilized for the cast. Drahos is also a professor and director of Theatre at UNC Pembroke.

    Reminder- The Lumbee Tribal Rolls will close in October for the Tribal Election. Remaining 2021 Dates for the Lumbee History Culture Class before Closure of Tribal Rolls-- MONDAY, Oct. 4th, 2021. The class begins at 6:00 pm. The Lumbee History Culture Class is for new enrollments only (ages 18 & over). Social distancing practices are still being followed.   • Heating and Water Assistance Program. The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP)

    On Monday, October 4, 2021 the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. will begin accepting applications for the Heating and Water Assistance Program. The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) will provide water assistance throughout the tribal territory. LIHWAP shall address restoration of services to households without current water services, immediate payment of existing arrearages to prevent disconnection of drinking water or wastewater, establishing household water services, or provide a monthly benefit payment. If you are unable to apply online, completed applications may be delivered to the drop box at the Lumbee Tribe Housing Complex at 6984 NC 711 West Pembroke, NC.

  • FREE Drive-Thru Football Cleat Distribution

    The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina Pembroke Boys & Girls Club will host a DRIVE-THRU distribution of FREE Football Cleats for Middle and High School Athletes on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 from 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm. The available sizes range from size 8 through 13. The cleats are available to ANY football or track athlete. The athlete must be present to pick up the cleats.   • National Day of Remembrance for U.S. Indian Boarding Schools—September 30

    The Lumbee Tribe of NC honors and remembers all who were affected by the Federal Indian Boarding Schools and its policies. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with each of the children and their families that were and continue to be impacted by the trauma of Indian Boarding schools. Lifting up prayers for healing. We will continue to advocate, educate, and seek the truth.

  • UNC Health Southeastern Update Offers Hope.

    The COVID-19 Vaccination rate is rising for Robeson County. On Wednesday, Robeson County passed two other counties in the state for COVID-19 vaccinations. Thank you to Dr. Joseph Roberts, Vice President/CMO, UNC Health Southeastern, Dr. Obiefuna Okoye, Infectious Diseases Medical Director, UNC Health Southeastern and Jordan Deese, Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at UNC Health Southeastern for offering this important COVID-19 information Update for the Lumbee People. But especially, we appreciate the UNC Health Southeastern Staff for caring for our Lumbee Family and community. Dr. Obiefuna Okoye was the first person in Robeson County to receive the COVID-10 vaccination. It is anticipated that he has taken care of more patients with COVID than any other provider in the state.
