- Vee Oxendine & Corbin Eddings sworn-in to appointments at April Meeting
During the Lumbee Tribal Council April Business Meeting, Tribal Councilman Corbin Eddings was sworn-in to an appointment seat on the United Tribes of N.C. Vee Oxendine was sworn-in to an appointment on the N.C. Commission of Indian Affairs. Both men were sworn-in by Lumbee Tribe Supreme Court Justice Mark Brooks.

The deadline is approaching to apply for the 2022-2023 Senior Ms. Lumbee pageant. The pageant will be on Saturday, June 18 2022 at Givens Performing Arts Center on the campus of UNC Pembroke. Contestants must be ages 55 and up and an enrolled Lumbee Tribal member. Applications are due by May 6, 2022. The march begins at the Art Market at the Shoe Shop at 104 N. Main in Pembroke, N.C. The event is sponsored by the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. and Native Visions. Alexis Raeana Jones and Charly Lowry perform their hit song "Keep my Memory" and other songs as they remember those who are missing or murdered and spotlight this important issue, which is impacting all of Indian Country.

Graduates, you have 10 days till the April 29th application deadline to apply for the Lumbee Cords of Honor Program. The cord is available to all 2022 Lumbee Graduates who are enrolled Lumbee Tribal Members. This includes Spring, Summer and Winter 2022 graduates. Please submit your completed application by April 29th and send in your RSVP by May 13th. Each graduate may bring 2 guests. Graduates are asked to arrive to the Lumbee Tribe Boys & Girls Club in Pembroke by 5:30 pm to begin the ceremony lineup. Refreshments will be served. -The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina will be awarding scholarships to current college students enrolled for next semester and entering freshman. Applications will be competitive. Scholarships will be awarded to students attending a technical, two or four-year college, or university. -Application must be complete, (Incomplete applications will be discarded) -Open dates - May 1-31, 2022 -Must have a minimum of a 2.5 grade-point-average (GPA) -Must be an active member of the Lumbee Tribe - Applicants must be tribally enrolled with an active membership and must also provide their tribal enrollment number on the application (a copy of tribal card must be included). -Submit a current official transcript and postmarked no later than the deadline date. Current official transcripts may also be sent via e-transcripts -List high school or college activities, awards, honors, extra- curricular activities, and church and community involvement -May consider Native American culture as farming, gardening, dance, art, writing projects, programs -Essay - explaining financial need, career choice, goals, and impact of your decisions -Applicants may apply annually The 2022 Lumbee Tribal Scholarship Application will be available May 1, 2022 through May 31, 2022 on our tribal website.
