We would like to thank the NC Department of Transportation for meeting this week with our Lumbee Tribe Agriculture and Natural Resources Department and the Cultural Center team to kick off a new partnership initiative to incorporate wildflower plots throughout the Lumbee Tribe Culture Center. These wildflower plantings will serve many uses including beautification, increased pollination in our community gardens and forested areas, support diverse ecosystems and re-establish populations of pollinating insects and wildlife. These plantings also continue our goal to expand and steward the lands of our people.

Veterans, we are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the Veterans Stand Down. It is going to be a great time of fellowship. Reminder, we will also have a Memorial Day service at noon during the Stand Down during the lunch break at the Lumbee Tribe Boys & Girls Club, 120 Youth Drive, in Pembroke, NC. The pool at the Lumbee Tribe Aquatic Center will be open on Monday, May 26, 2025, for the Memorial Day Holiday from noon till 6:00 pm. Prices are $2 for an active Tribal Card and $3 without a Tribal Card (Cash only). The Aquatic Center is at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center on Terry Sanford Drive in Maxton, NC. We will post the regular summer schedule later.

Thank you to the North Carolina General Assembly and our state lawmakers for welcoming the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina once again to spend the day with them in Raleigh. Thank you to Representative Jarrod Lowery, Senator Danny Britt, Representative Garland E. Pierce and Representative Brenden H. Jones for visiting with our Tribal Council and our tribal administration during our visit to the NC General Assembly.

Thank you to everyone who came out this evening for the District 6 Community Meeting at Berea Baptist Church in Pembroke. The event was hosted by Councilman Larry Chavis. Chairman Lowery and the Lumbee Tribal Staff talked with our citizens and community members about issues ranging from housing and construction development that is underway, federal recognition updates, the tribal budget, new initiatives by the Health department, collaboratives with Agriculture and Natural Resources, summer camps and up and coming events.

Thank you to everyone who came out today during Lumbee Day at the General Assembly. It was great time of fellowship and sharing of our Lumbee Culture at the N.C. General Assembly Park in Raleigh today. It was a wonderful time with our Lumbee Citizens to fellowship with our lawmakers and friends in the North Carolina General Assembly. From our Lumbee artisans to the Lumbee food favorites, it was a great time.

The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. invites you to a Memorial Day Ceremony on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at noon at the Lumbee Tribe Boys & Girls Club, 120 Youth Drive, in Pembroke, NC. The ceremony will take place during the Veterans Stand Down Lunch break. The Veterans Stand Down is from 10 am till 2 pm. We look forward to seeing our Veterans on Saturday for this annual event.

Reminder - Join us Tuesday for a day of fellowship and cultural sharing with the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. during this special day at the N.C. General Assembly on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. The event will be held at the Halifax Mall from 10 am - 2 pm at 300 N. Salisbury St. in Raleigh, NC. There will be Lumbee artisans and much more.

We look forward to seeing you TONIGHT at the Monday, May 19, 2025, evening Culture class. The class will be at the Pembroke Boys & Girls Club. The first (1) beading workshop will continue, and there will be other cultural activities for those not registered in the beading workshop.
