- Lumbee History Culture Class Resumes January 31, 2022!
We are excited to announce the Lumbee History Culture Class will resume on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 6:00 pm. The class will be held in the Pembroke Boys & Girls Club gymnasium, located behind the main office. We are still practicing social distancing , therefore the class will have a limit of (30) thirty registrants. The class is a requirement for individuals who are 18-years-old and over, who have never been enrolled with the tribe. The class is only open to the registered participants and we ask that you do not bring your minor children or any additional individuals, unless they require the class as well. You do not need to bring anything to the class with you. Once the class has concluded, you will receive a certificate of completion that will be needed when you come to the office for enrollment during our regular business hours. We are in the process of getting the registration link uploaded for the class. Until that has taken place, you may register for the class by submitting your name and phone number to enrollment@lumbeetribe.com or call 910.522.5468. **ENROLLED TRIBAL MEMBER ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS CLASS. Members who need to update their enrollment may do so in the enrollment office.

On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina will be accepting Heating and Water applications ONSITE from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm at the Ministry Center at Cape Fear Baptist Church. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides families and individuals with cash benefits toward their household heating and cooling source. The ( LIHWAP) Low Income Household Water Assistance Program provides water assistance throughout the tribal territory. The address is Cape Fear Baptist Church, 100 Indian Drive, Fayetteville, NC .

New Lumbee Tribal Chairman John Lowery has hit the ground running. Chairman Lowery is meeting with staff administrators as he continues to schedule meetings with tribal department managers from various departments. Chairman Lowery is looking at key service areas such as enrollment, new construction, Federal Recognition as well as preparing for the Anniversary of Hayes Pond, which is Tuesday.

The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. has a new Tribal Chairman following a Virtual Inauguration Ceremony at UNC Pembroke. John Lowery was sworn in as the new Lumbee Tribal Chairman. 5 new Council members were also sworn in tonight to the Lumbee Tribal Council, with two also returning members sworn in. The ceremony was livestreamed following concerns with increasing numbers of COVID-19 Cases across the region. John Lowery is the youngest tribal chairman to be elected to the Lumbee Tribe. Lowery has worked for the National Congress of American Indians in Washington, D.C., served in the Office of Tribal Relations at the United States Department of Agriculture, served recently as Regional Operations director for the North Carolina Department of Commerce, and currently serves as the Tribal Liaison for Carolina Complete Health.
