The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. Housing Complex and all Tribal Offices will be closed on Monday, July 4th for the Independence Day Federal Holiday. Our offices will re-open on Tuesday, July 5th. We wish you a safe and happy Independence Day!

Thank you to everybody who came out for an exciting time at the Annual State of the Tribe event. Tribal Chairman John Lowery delivered a very informative update to our Tribal Members about the outlook and budget for the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. This year has been very successful and the coming year has some very exciting things ahead for the Lumbee Tribe. Here are a few highlights from the meeting.
- Honoring our Lumbee Elders at the Annual Elder’s Luncheon at the Southeastern Ag Center
What a great time to be able to gather together again this week after three years to recognize and honor our Lumbee Elders at the Annual Elder’s Luncheon at the Southeastern Ag Center (Farmer’s Market). Throughout this event, the three wisest and oldest elders were honored with a gift. The oldest attendee was Rev. Evert Locklear, who is 103 years old. Lumbee Tribal Chairman John Lowery presented Rev. Locklear with an Eagle feather. The Lumbee Warrior’s Association also honored him with different gifts. Rev. Locklear spoke for a few minutes about the goodness of God and how nothing would be possible without the love and mercy of God. Thank you to all who attended, participated, and volunteered to make this event successful. Thank you to the Lumbee Tribal Council, current Miss Lumbee (Taylor Locklear), Teen and Miss Lumbee Contestants, as well as the Lumbee Tribe’s staff for volunteering their time to serve and pay homage to our elders.

Lumbee Tribal Chairman John L. Lowery will present the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. State of the Tribe Address on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 6:30 pm. Chairman Lowery will share information about the tribal budget, recent accomplishments and his goals and vision for the Lumbee People. The event will be held at the Lumbee Tribe Boys & Girls Club in Pembroke, which is located behind the Lumbee Tribe Housing Complex. A reception will follow the address. Address will be LIVESTREAMED!
- Lumbee Tribe Rental Pandemic Relief Program (RPRP) Assist Families Impacted by COVID-19 Pandemic
Were you impacted financially by the Pandemic? The Rental Pandemic Relief Program (RPRP) is available to ALL Lumbee Tribal Members residing within Lumbee Tribal Territory and throughout the United States Territories and District of Columbia. An “eligible household” is defined as a renter household in which at least one or more individuals meets the following criteria: 1. Qualifies for unemployment or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19 2. Demonstrates a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability 3. Has a household income at or below 80 percent of the area median. Rental assistance provided to an eligible household should not be duplicative of any other federally funded rental assistance provided to such household. Rent, Rent arrears, and utilities. For the purpose of RPRP “utilities” includes: electricity, propane, natural gas, water, sewer, trash removal, and internet.
