- Lumbee Tribal Chairman Lowery Welcomes Students to College Day Conference
On Friday, April 29th, the Lumbee Tribe’s Project IndigeCHOICE program will host a College Day conference at UNC-Pembroke from 9 am till 2pm. High school students will have the opportunity to meet staff and students from various colleges including NC-State, Robeson Community College and UNC-Pembroke and UNC-Chapel Hill. This will be an excellent experience for students to learn how to choose the right college from them, tips for transitioning into college, and how to keep their college journey on track. - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Warriors' Way Veterans Village--May 26, 2022 at 11:00 am
We hope you will join us for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Warriors' Way Veterans Village on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at 1179 West Boyce Rd. in Rowland, NC . This village community will house (10) ten Veterans in the Rowland Community. There will be a "Flag Ceremony" as well as a Memorial Day Service as part of this special occasion. We are thrilled to support our Veterans as we host the Lumbee Tribe of NC Veteran Stand Down on May 21, 2022. The Stand Down is from 10 am till 2 pm at the Lumbee Tribe Boys & Girls Club, 120 Youth Drive, Pembroke, NC. The event will offer Health Screenings, Housing Assistance, Mental Health Services, Employment Assistance, Veterans' Benefits Assistance, Gear and Food Distribution for Veterans. This event is open to all Veterans. *Veterans will need to present, proof of Veteran status: DD-214, Veteran ID, or VA Verified on Site. Please share this information with your community as well as your church family to get the word out.
- Career Fair at Fairmont Middle School!
Thank you to the Fairmont Middle School’s staff and students for the opportunity to participate in the Career Fair on Wednesday, April 28, 2022. The Lumbee Tribal staff was able to share information about the Lumbee Tribe, the many jobs available, as well as the different services and programs that we offer our tribal members. It was a great time for business and community leaders to join in and help encourage our young people.
- NC House Speaker Tim Moore Tours Lumbee Tribal Housing Complex 2022
While he was in town for the opening of the UNC Pembroke Thomas School of Business, NC Speaker of the House Tim Moore stopped by to visit the Lumbee Tribe of N.C. Housing Complex. He and his team took a tour of the Tribal Facilities.
- RCC Outdoor Career Fair!
Thank you to Robeson Community College for the opportunity to participate in the RCC Outdoor Career Fair on Tuesday. The event was open to the public. 63 employers were in attendance, including out tribal staff, who was able to share and explain the many different programs and services we offer to our tribal members. The Lumbee Tribe is a great place to work! The career fair brought over 1,000 visitors to RCC’s campus. We hope it was a beneficial event for students and staff.
- Lumbee Tribe Recognizes Researcher for Maxton Pond Research
Thank you to Rebecca Asser for her extensive work and research on Maxton Pond. The Lumbee Tribal Council and Tribal Chairman John Lowery honored her efforts with a beaded Hawk Feather at this week’s Tribal Council Business Meeting. Rebecca is a North Carolina State University Graduate Student. Her poster presentation of her environmental and research work on Maxton Pond won her 2nd place in the NCSU Graduate Student Research Symposium. She has worked diligently to be culturally sensitive to the place the Maxton Pond holds in the hearts of the Lumbee People.
- Chairman Lowery Meets with Administrators from PRSC to discuss IEA Program & Federal Consultation
Today Lumbee Tribal Chairman John Lowery met with the administrators from the Public Schools of Robeson County to discuss (IEA) the Indian Education Program and Federal Consultation. Federal consultation is an annual meeting which impacts the Public Schools of Robeson County's funding for Native Students.

Thank you to everyone who came out today to the Lumbee Tribe Inauguration Reception for the newly elected Lumbee Tribal Council and Lumbee Tribal Chairman John L. Lowery. The event was fun filled and the food was just what you would expect in coming home for a celebration with family, down to the sweet potatoes and the chicken bog in the wash pot. It was a great way to welcome in our newly elected Chairman Lowery and Tribal Council Members' Billy Oxendine, Jody Bullard, Wendy Moore, Nanci Locklear, Dewey McNeill, Bobby Emanuel and Homer Fields. Thank you to all of our cooks, volunteers and our staff who made this extra special.
