    Construction is in full swing at Pine Needle Senior Village. Pine Needle Senior Village is a 16-acre tract of land located in District 1, township of Rowland, NC. This development is designed to provide safe and affordable rental housing to Senior Lumbee Tribal members. Upon completion, Pine Needle Senior Village will consist of 23 single-family homes and a 3,200 sq. ft. administrative building. The administrative building, which was dedicated in 2023, houses the site's management as well as community and elder outreach. The first three-homes are anticipated to be completed by May of 2024.

Chairman Lowery and Tribal Administrator Ricky Harris spoke with the Veterans about recent accomplishments of the Lumbee Tribe and highlighted related programs and services.

    For Immediate Release The Lumbee Tribe's Accomplishments and Highlights for 2023 as Chairman John L. Lowery and the Lumbee Tribal Council Celebrate Another Year of Progress Pembroke, NC (January 24, 2024) - The Lumbee Tribe reached more than 27,000 Tribal citizens in 2023 through programs and services. Over the past year, Chairman John L. Lowery also updated several programs to allow services to be available to more families. “As I began my second year as Chairman, the momentum continued as we improved and increased support for our families,” said Chairman Lowery. “I am thankful for our staff's hard work, and the efforts of the Tribal Council, who work daily to meet the needs of our Lumbee Citizens. Our accomplishments in 2023 reflect a thorough look at where our Tribal Citizens need support.” Three major changes include doubling the available Down Payment Assistance amount to a maximum of $20,000, a policy change which allows families to build homes on land that is not road frontage, and passing of a 39 million budget that includes a Residential Services Department which will focus on transitioning families from rental housing to permanent housing.   • Culture Class Returns to Pembroke Boys & Girls Club tonight!

    We are looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Workshop held at the Pembroke Boys & Girls Club (120 Youth Drive Pembroke, NC). Tonight’s class will highlight POWWOW dancing and drumming as well as Lumbee culture. Class will be from 6:30 pm til 8 pm. This workshop is free and open to all ages.

    The Lumbee Tribe of N.C.’s Dreamcatcher Community Project is in the final stages of being complete! The Dreamcatcher Homes are rental properties, which offer affordable housing to our Lumbee families. Together, Dreamcatcher Raynham, Union Chapel, and ArrowPoint, upon completion, will be comprised of 50 single-family homes. Dreamcatcher ArrowPoint is anticipated to be completed in June of 2024 and will consist of 12 three-bedroom and two-bathroom single family homes.

The purpose of this event is for high school students and their parents to learn more about Department of State Programs, such as study abroad opportunities, internships, college scholarships, fellowships, and more.
