Lumbee Tribe installs playground at Red Hill Apartments

The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina recently had the installation of a new playground for the youth residing at Red Hill Apartments located at 4872 Red Hill Road, Maxton, NC.

The playground included a swing set, banana slide set, merry-go-round, and two turtle spring riders. Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin Jr., along with District Representative’s Bobby Oxendine and Jarrod Lowery, were in attendance to welcome the families to the playground site.

Tribal Chairman Harvey Godwin Jr. expressed much gratitude to the community and to the Lumbee Tribal Council on the effort that was shown during this project. Godwin stated that he received the request from children of the Red Hill Apartments community through letters given to him on Valentine’s Day.

The children expressed much joy during the installation, as did the community. “Working together for the betterment of our children and their environment is the overall goal with projects such as these, and in moving forward , I hope there will be many more projects such as these to prevail”, Godwin stated.

Red Hill Apartments is a part of the 37 Stock Units managed by Grace Oxendine under the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.
