Election Office Begins Accepting Absentee Ballot Requests on Sept. 28

The first day to request an absentee ballot for the upcoming Lumbee tribal elections is Monday, September 28. The Tribal Election is set for November 17.

The last day to request an absentee ballot is October 30.

 

All absentee ballots must be returned and received by the Election Board by 5 pm on November 16.

The Tribal Election Board recently met and certified all the candidates running for council seats and those seeking the chairman’s seat.

 

Fourteen people have filed for seven open seats. Two candidates are unopposed – Lakeshia Sweat in District 1 and Johnathan Locklear in District 4. Five people have filed for the chairman’s seat.

The office is located at 78-D, Three Hunt’s Drive in the Comtech Business Park off NC 711 in Pembroke. The office is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.
