Over 200 volunteers from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and the community joined KaBOOM! yesterday, Wednesday, April 24 to build a kid-designed, state-of-the-art playground in just six hours at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center. The build started around 10:00AM and was completed about 4:00PM. This new playground will help make play the easy choice for kids and families in Robeson County. Play is essential to physical, creative, cognitive, social and emotional development. 14th Annual Dance of the Spring Moon Lumbee Powwow

Join us for the 14th Annual Dance of the Spring Moon Lumbee Powwow! May 3-5, 2019 at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center, 638 Terry Sanford Drive, Maxton, NC 28364. This event will feature a Cultural Demonstrations, Stickball Games, Powwow Dancing, food vendors and a variety of fine arts and jewelry from individual artists. Drum contest winners will be awarded prize money ranging from $2000 to $8000 Dance contestants will compete for prize money: ranging from $200 to $1000 for adults; $75 to $500 for teens; and $50 to $200 for the Boys and Girls division. 2019 Veteran Stand Down

Saturday, our veterans were able to access many of the different services at the Lumbee Tribe Veterans Stand Down and Community Job Fair. Services such as food, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment, and substance abuse treatment were available for veterans. Veterans and their services to our country were highlighted and applauded throughout the program.
