LUMBEE COUNTRY NEWS

 

Fifteen people, including two incumbents, are candidates for the Lumbee Tribal Council election on November 14, 2006.

The following Districts are open for re-election 1,3, 4,5, 7, 9, 10 and 14.

2006 Lumbee Elections

The Lumbee Tribe will hold an election on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 for eight seats on the Tribal Council.

The following Tribal District are open for election: District 1- Gaddy, Rowland, Orrum, Sterlings, Whitehouse, and Thompson; one seat in District 3-Lumberton and West Howellsville; District 4-Red Springs 1 & 2, and Philadelphus; one seat in District 5-Oxendine and Prospect; one seat in District 7-South Pembroke and Union; District 9-Saddletree; District 10-Shannon, Rennert, and South St. Pauls; and District 14-East Howellsville, Wisharts and Britts. 

Candidates must have maintained their principal place of residence in the particular council district for which the member stands for election no less than the preceding one year, according to the Lumbee Constitution.
