GOALS FORUM ANNOUNCED

Tribal Chairman Jimmy Goins along with Tribal Administrator Leon Jacobs proudly announces GOALS - "Gathering of All Lumbees and Supporters" which will be held on May 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. during the Lumbee Tribe's 1st Annual Spring Powwow-Dance of the Spring Moon, A Celebration of the Changing Season at the North Carolina Indian Cultural Center.

Over 200 Lumbee Tribal members assembled at the first Gathering of Lumbees and Supporters Forum on Saturday February 19, 2005. Tribal members from the States of Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina gathered to identify strategies aimed at boosting the Tribe's Federal Recognition effort. This marked the initial onset of GOALS and proved to be a huge success.

The theme that will reign in the upcoming forum is "It's Time For Discrimination to End and Recognition to Begin". GOALS is designed to include ALL Lumbee Tribal members. We invite all Tribal members to come and participate in this gathering in efforts to collaborate ideas and create networking tools to expand lobbying labors and Tribal contacts among the Lumbee people.

Tribal Chairman Jimmy Goins said recently, "In order to make Federal Recognition a success we must come together as a united Tribe. The North Carolina Indian Cultural Center provides an ideal setting to discuss the future of our Tribe and the future of obtaining full Federal Recognition. Please join us on May 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Carolina Indian Cultural Center."
