HEARING ON S. 420

The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs hearing was held on September 17, 2003, in the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, DC. The hearing was attended by the committee chair Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO), vice-chair Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), and Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA). Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC), Congressman Mike McIntyre (D-NC), and Congressman Eni Faleomavaega (D-AS) presented testimony in support of the bill. Tribal Chairman Milton Hunt served as the tribe's chief witness. Arlinda Locklear, the tribe's attorney, Dr. Jack Campisi, Mr. Tim Martin of United Southeastern Tribes, and Ms. Aurene Martin from the Department of the Interior also testified before the committee.
