Lumbee Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation

 

Statement from Director, Celeste Hunt: This program provides vocational rehabilitation to any Lumbee Indian with a disability living in the Lumbee Tribal area. The objective of the program is to prepare for, obtain or  retain gainful employment.  It is our goal to improve the quality of life for Lumbee Indians with disabilities.

 

Eligibility Requirments for Lumbee Vocational Rehabilitation

  • Are an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe
  • Reside in Cumberland, Hoke, Robeson or Scotland counties
  • Think you have a physical disability, anxiety, depression or other mental health issues, substance or alcohol abuse, learning disabilities, trouble with hearing and/or vision, or other emotional/behavioral disabilities
  • Believe the disability affects your ability to attain or maintain employment...

What is a Disability?

Disabilities can be seen or unseen, Disabilities can be physical, mental, or  emotional. These are some conditions that could be considered a disability: Asthma, Blindness, Lupus, Burns  , Back Pain, Obesity, Cancer, Deafness, Hearing Loss, Depression, Cardiac/Circulatory, Learning Disabilities, Alcohol Dependency, Arthritis and Rheumatism, Mental Impairments
