RALEIGH, N.C. -- The N.C. Commission of Indian Affairs have been flooded with calls from people concerned about comments made during an early morning radio show about American Indians.
Gene Richardson with N.C. Commission of Indian Affairs said a segment that aired on Tuesday Apr. 1, on G105 Radio during the "Bob & the Show Gram" program made racially inflammatory remarks about American Indians, in particular the Lumbee Indians of Robeson County.
Richardson said his office has received numerous calls regarding the comments and said his office expects to give a major response to the remarks. He adds that his office hasn't been contacted G105 about the segment, due to the large amount of phone calls coming in.
The recent controversy isn't the first time G105 has been in trouble for comments made on the "Bob and Madison Morning Show" back in 2003. The morning show team was suspended for two-days and the station aired an official apology and responded to community inquiries.
