Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina Volunteer Program
The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina has opened the new Volunteer Program within the Elder Services Department which is now accepting applicants at the main office in Pembroke, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“There are a number of reasons to join this unique program,” stated Tribal Chairman Jimmy Goins, “you will be able to make a difference in your community, positively impact the lives of others, develop and share professional skills, improve communication and interpersonal skills, educate the public, meet new people, and most importantly as being part of a dynamic team you will develop a greater knowledge and understanding of Tribal Programs.”
“The goal is to provide an opportunity for Tribal members to contribute to the betterment of their community, creating a sense of ownership and enhanced Tribal pride and participation,” commented Volunteer Coordinator Morgan Hunt. Volunteer opportunities within the program include Tribal Boys & Girls Clubs, Elder Services, Enrollment, Veterans Affairs, Energy Assistance, Housing, Research and Compliance, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Tribal events.
To be eligible for the program volunteers must be 18 and older, submit an application containing verifiable personal references, complete an initial interview process, comply with a criminal background check, and satisfy mandatory volunteer orientation and training.
