“I am concerned that some tribal members may buy this cigarette thinking they are supporting the Tribe,” said Jimmy Goins, Tribal Chairman. “I want those persons to know that smoking is detrimental to their health, and as a former smoker, I encourage them to stop.”
The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina supports a tobacco cessation and teen prevention program(PICTURED LEFT). The Lumbee Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Project is designed to enhance and increase awareness of the health risks and diseases related to tobacco use.
“I am proud to work with a program that helps and assists tribal members in quitting the dangerous habit of tobacco,” states Morgan Hunt, Tobacco Cessation Coordinator of the Lumbee Tribe.
