“Hear it from the Pros"

On Tuesday, December 16 2008 former NFL players Darryl “Dokie” Williams from the Oakland Raiders and Ron Fellows from the Dallas Cowboys visited with youth from the Lumbee Boys & Girls Clubs through the Immersion Grant Program.  

The program, “Hear it from the Pros” was part of the Celebrities in Motion.  The mission of the program is to make a positive impact on youth by helping them to understand the importance of making good choices in their lives.

“Events like this are critical in character building,” states Wanda Locklear, Youth Director for the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.  “Character building is a core component of the Lumbee Boys & Girls Club program.”

 

The event was held at First Nation Boys & Girls Club and Community Center of the Lumbee Tribe on Singletary Church Road in Lumberton. The First Nation Boys & Girls Club is sponsored by the Youth Services Department of the Lumbee Tribe.  For further information concerning this event or other programs please contact Monica Freeman at 9110-522-5192.
