Applications are now being accepted for Tribal Elder estate

        (December 2010) The Lumbee Tribe will be accepting applications for Stedman Estates on select days during the months of November and December at the North Carolina Indian Housing Authority from 9a.m. until 4p.m. located on 2125 Sapona Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

         Applications will be accepted on January 12th through January 13th. Tribal members claiming head of household must present their tribal enrollment card along with the following materials for everyone that will be in the household: birth certificate, social security card and proof of income.  A criminal background check will also be conducted. Qualifying applicants must be 55 years of age and older as well as everyone that will be living within the household.

         A ground breaking ceremony was held for the project on January 8, 2010. Stedman Estates is a total of 10 homes each with two bedrooms and one bathroom. An administrative building will also be on site which will also function as a community building that will be available to the residents and the surrounding community.

         The $1.6 million project is funded by the Native American Self-Determination Act (NASDA) with construction services rendered by Certified Construction Services, Inc.
