Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina through the Homicide and Motor Vehicle Death Prevention Program and Youth Services Department will host ‘National Night Out’. It will be held at Pembroke Recreation Park on October 4, from 6 pm - 8 pm. Some of the events that will take place are visits from local police and sheriff departments, flashlight walks, contests, and other youth activities.
National Night Out is ‘America’s Night out against Crime’. And is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. The goal of the program is to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The National Night Out is normally held on August 2. However, the Lumbee Tribe decided to hold theirs later, with Texas, due to the extreme heat.
