36th Annual North Carolina Indian Unity Conference

         (January 2011)The United Tribes of North Carolina will be hosting its 36th Annual NC Indian Unity Conference from March 10 until March 12, 2011 at the Hilton North Raleigh in Raleigh, North Carolina.
         This event is held so that all American Indians of North Carolina can discuss common interests and pursuits at the local, state, and national levels. Various panel discussions will be conducted throughout the conference for tribal members and representatives to attend.
         Various scholastic contests will be held such as the Miss Indian North Carolina Pageant (MINC) during the three day event.  Others include the Unity Conference Writing Contest and the United Tribes of NC Scholarship Award. The winner of the Miss Indian North Carolina Pageant will receive a $500 scholarship. The Unity Conference Writing Contest will award the first place winner from each category $50 and the United Tribes of NC Scholarship Award is expected to award five, $500 scholarships for the fall of 2011. To be eligible for any of the competitions individuals must be a member of a federally or state recognized American Indian Tribe from North Carolina.
         United Tribes of NC is a non-profit corporation established in 1982 by the NC Commission of Indian Affairs.
