Identify needs in district represented.
Be a voice for your district.
Assist in creating resolutions to Tribal Council regarding Elder’s needs.
Assist in creating letters of support to Governmental leaders regarding legislative issues.
Participate in joint communications with Youth Council.

MONTHLY HEALTH CHECKS

Each weekly group has a monthly blood pressure and weight check provided by We Care For You Home care

TRAVEL

There will be at least one over night trip per year.  In addition, day trips are taken on a regular basis.  Trips will be planned and decided on by Heritage Group members.  Only eligible members will participate in these trips.

Elder's Choir

The Elder’s Choir consists of Tribal Elders from all districts.  You do not have to be a member of a Weekly Group in order to participate.  The Choir meets for practice each Wednesday at 10:00am at the Boys & Girls Club in Pembroke. As    participation grows from Elder’s in other districts, practices will float from district to district to accommodate all participant’s.  The choir has participated in several events that include the NC Indian Unity Conference in Raleigh, NC and the  Lumbee  Pow Wow. The Choir competed in the Senior Olympics where they were awarded the 2007 Silver Medal in the Performing Arts Category.  To invite the choir to participate in your event please call Natascha @ 522-5461.
